
Dean Woods - Owner/Guide
Dean has been exploring Zion since the mid 70's. With numerous descents of Zion's major canyons and many ascents of Zion's aid and free climbing routes he has become an invaluable resource for adventurers visiting Zion. As an owner of Zion Rock and Mountain Guides he now has ample opportunity to share his wealth of knowledge and experience with visitors to Zion. Dean has been involved with Zion's Technical Search and Rescue Team for the last 11 years functioning as an Instructor and Lead Rigger.

Travis Tomlinson - Owner/Guide
First visiting Zion in the early 90's Travis soon realized that he would eventually call this place home. Moving here permanently in 2002 he found himself working for Zion National Park as a Backcountry Ranger. Travis was picked up by Zion Search and Rescue for which he still volunteers. He enjoys any pursuit involving ropework and enjoys teaching people new skills in the outdoors. Travis has spent much of his time climbing in Southern California and Southern Utah.

Jeremy Draper - Lead Guide
At a young age Jeremy started to explore the mountains of Utah and Wyoming with his dad. Ten years of Zion canyoneering and climbing lend to a wealth of solid local knowledge and experience. When Jeremy is not chasing powder in the Tetons, surfing in Central America, or climbing in Thailand, he enjoys guiding and Instructing with an emphasis on fun, safety & environmental stewardship.

Greg Istock - Lead Guide
In 1999 on a two week trip to see the entire West, Greg made a stop in Zion National Park and realized this was were he should live. He moved to Virgin Utah and with the generosity of locals and guide books he began exploring the incredible landscape of Zion and Southern Utah. In 2006 he started working for Zion Rock and Mountain Guides were he became AMGA,PCIA,and WFR certified
Greg has a great love of the area and enjoys showing others what he has found here.
Joe French - Lead Guide
Joe French was born in Duluth MN in 1974 and began climbing on the north shore of Lake Superior. Joe moved to Zion in 1996, specifically to climb, and has since climbed extensively within Zion and beyond. Having established numerous new routes of all grades, he's managed to find time to climb classics too, repeating some of the more obscure routes found in the park. Mr. French is a member of the Access Fund and the American Mountain Guides Association (AMGA) currently pursuing his AMGA Rock Guide Certification and has received his Single Pitch certification and completed his Rock Instructor Course in 2008. Joe loves Zion and enjoys sharing it with all of his guests.

Eric Draper - Lead Guide
At 29 Eric is one of the foremost experts on climbing and canyoneering in Zion National Park. His ten plus years of experience have given him a solid understanding of how safety, preparation and fun can work together in the outdoor arena. Eric has climbed extensively in the Western United States and New Zealand. His focus on bigwalls and long free routes have taken him to the top of El Capitan, King Fisher and the Keeler Needle to name a few.

Tom Torkelson - Lead/International Guide
Tom has devoted the past decade of his life to his passion for the mountains: guiding, ski-mountaineering, alpine climbing, and adventure photography and videography. Tom has been a Professional Mountain Guide since 1998, and currently guides more than 200 days per year. His guiding work and adventuring have taken him to Alaska, the Himalayas, Antarctica, New Zealand, The Alps, Mexico, and South America. He has organized and led more than 50 high-altitude expeditions in South America, Alaska, and the Himalaya.

John Varco - Alpinist
Born in St. Paul, Minnesota, John moved to Colorado about 13 years ago. He now has a P.O. Box in Steamboat Springs, though you'll rarely ever find him there. He has climbed in Peru, Nepal, India, Alaska, France, Switzerland, the UK, Italy and Canada. His passion is alpine climbing and he has fueled it by climbing full time in many different spectrums of the sport. One month he may be climbing a 5.13 off-width in Indian Creek. The next he may be establishing yet another desperate Zion big wall. You are just as likely to run into him soloing one of the many classic Colorado rock or ice climbs.

Brian McCray - Seminar Instructor
Brian has been an active full-time member of the climbing community for over 16 years now. Originally from Dayton, Ohio, Brian has taken his climbing adventures to many parts of this country as well as the world. His climbing skills are varied, ranging from a high level of sport and traditional climbing to aiding on big walls and now some ice. Brian continues to push his limits in climbing everywhere he goes while still working hard at his occupation of resoling climbing shoes. His shop and current residence is located in the heart of the highest concentration of climbing in the country, The City of Sin and Sun, Las Vegas, Nevada. MORE

Ammon McNeeley - Seminar Instructor
Ammon has 24 big wall speed records between Yosemite and Zion, 9 of them being first one day ascents. He owns 15 records on El Capitan alone, the highest amount by anyone. Ammon has close to 70 ascents of Grade VI routes, 38 of them being El Cap. He has shared and gained experience from many well-known, world-class climbers on these routes. MORE

Scott Morley - Lead Guide
Scott Morley is a third generation mountaineer and skier, who has been recreating in Zion over the past ten years. He has guided professionally for six years, and also leads trips for Exum Mountain Guides and Climbing School in his home range, the Tetons, and the near by Wind River Wilderness. His adventures have taken him around the globe with ascents in Yosemite, the Canadian Rockies, the French and Swiss Alps, Scandinavia, Nepal, Thailand, and Alaska. Most of Scott's sandstone experience comes from the mountains, big walls, and canyons of Zion, but his love of sandstone has also taken him to the top of many towers across southern Utah and as far as the jungles of Borneo.
